Pakistan and China on Sunday agreed to trade in their local currencies in an effort to reduce dependence on the US dollar.

The currency swap arrangement (CSA) between State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and People’s Bank of China (PBOC) had already been extended for a period of 3 years in respective local currencies.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to China has further strengthened the Sino-Pak strategic relations.

Talking to the media persons in Lahore on Monday, he said China has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times.

He said the visit witnessed the signing of many historic agreements between the two countries which will open new doors of cooperation in the fields of agriculture and industries.
